Actually, we’ve seen everything in the clock world, haven’t we? Mechanical watches, quartz watches, digital watches, smartwatches, chronographs, diving watches and even retro watches with old technology and a new design come back. Kustom Watches Review.

We have read the time with two hands, also with one and with numbers. So, surprises in a centuries-old craft are certainly no longer a thing of the past. If a manufacturer were to come onto the market with a “revolution”, that would most likely be a bad joke. A revolutionary invention is simple and ingenious, and that’s exactly where the difficulty is in. So, are you ready for a revolution?

Imagine a watch that can be dismantled into individual modules in a matter of seconds and. The result is a wealth of different combinations, which each can put together individually according to his or her own needs. Okay, let’s go to the patent office and revolutionize the watch market! Unfortunately, this won’t happen again, because three young Italian entrepreneurs who have already applied for a patent for the “modular watch construction kit” had this innovative idea some time ago. Now the micro brand is fresh on the market. And here it is: the Kustom Watch.

The first impression: a solid entry-level watch

The Kustom Watch comes in a minimalist black box, which in turn contains four smaller boxes with the four configurable modules case, dial, bezel and bracelet in a custom-fit foam material. In terms of quality, this is very appealing and somehow reminiscent of a well-known Californian hardware and software giant – who, by the way, has already tried to revolutionize the watch market with Smartwatches – and did not come up with such a simple and flexible idea. Let’s take a detailed look at the individual components and their different versions. The stainless steel housing has a diameter of 41 millimetres. Kustom Watches Review.

A quartz heart beats in the case itself. More precisely, it is a Japanese Miyota 2035 quartz movement, which makes the watch just 9 millimeters thick. The inventors have chosen a safe strategy. The watch with simple and inexpensive quartz movements has been on the market since 14 October 2019. According to the manufacturer, more expensive automatic movements will be delivered when the new concept is successfully sold. The stainless steel case is polished on the sides. The Kustom Watch is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The design is generally restrained, but still noble and Italian. The quality of the materials used is astonishingly good, especially due to the fact that the watch manufactory is just new on the market.

An ingenious innovation – Kustom Watches Review

The innovation lies in the flexibility of the modules: the individual components can be assembled in the shortest possible time. The creation of the watch is thus completed within a few seconds. All four modules are available in silver, black and rose gold. It already makes three different bezels and cases. And now it comes: the dial is also available in three versions. In white and black and with a reduced, minimalist design, as well as in black with technical typography and futuristic design – in three different colours, there are another nine options for choosing a dial.

The bracelets are again available in three different versions: classic stainless steel in black, silver and rose gold. Optionally also available in soft, Italian leather with very high wearing comfort and as Natostrap. Both versions are black with applications in one of the three colours. Let’s simply calculate how many possible different watches you can put together. With three bezels and cases each and nine variants of dial and bracelets each, you come to 729(!) possible combinations. And with this number it becomes clear how ingenious the concept is. Once you have put together a watch from the four modules, you will quickly get a taste for it and “extend” your watch with various bracelets or bezels. Kustom Watches Review.

Kustom Watches Review

This does not stop at a one-time purchase – because the customer is bound to the brand for the long term. In addition, the configurator on the homepage fully reflects the spirit of the times. What has long been known from the automotive industry, for example, has been transferred here to watches. Kustom Watches meets the wishes of many people: the individual design of a watch according to their own wishes. So far, this has only been the case with Natostraps, but not to this extent. The times of dusty jewellers with heavy furniture and old carpets are therefore a thing of the past. Today, watches are individually presented on social platforms and configured on the Internet. Advertising effective “assembly videos” via YouTube and Instagram are pre-programmed. Kustom Watches apparently understands the system very well.

Conclusion – Kustom Watches Review

Is Kustom Watch really an innovative revolution in the watch market? At any rate, our first impression is that the potential is there. The simple and innovative basic concept knows how to convince and meets the current zeitgeist. The prices are between 200€ and 285€ in the most expensive version depending on the model – moderate beginner prices. Whether the newcomer brand from Italy achieves its breakthrough depends on how strongly the concept is disseminated in the social media and when further configuration options such as colours, movements and designs are launched on the market. A final verdict: an innovation that brings a breath of fresh air into the field of entry-level watches and a change from the fashion watches that look the same forever.
