The Production Process
Crafting a titanium case is a demanding and precise process. It begins with the cleaning of the raw material, which is then shaped into bars or rods to prepare it for machining. The titanium is next given a rough form that approximates the intended design. Advanced milling machines are used to meticulously shape the material. As titanium is lighter and stronger than steel, it requires specialized tools and slower cutting speeds to prevent overheating and preserve its unique properties. Finally, each case undergoes meticulous hand-finishing to achieve the highest precision and a flawless surface.
Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 – Venezianico Nereide Titanio
The watch features Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9, a luminous pigment that appears white in daylight and emits a vibrant blue-green glow in darkness. While typically applied to indices and hands, this model takes it further by incorporating the pigment on the bezel. This ensures outstanding readability, even in total darkness or underwater environments.
Titanium: A Tribute to Strength
Discovered in 1791 by William Gregor and later named by Martin Heinrich Klaproth after the Titans of Greek mythology, titanium embodies both lightness and strength. The Nereide Titanio pays homage to this powerful material, drawing inspiration from Atlas, the Titan who holds up the sky. This symbolism is echoed in the famous Atlas statue in the courtyard of the Doge’s Palace in Venice, which served as a design inspiration for this model.
