The Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TVA-1 should make its wearer happy. For this purpose, Casio has designed a high-end device, which looks similar to the first G-SHOCK from the 80s, but technically heralds the future…
Back to the future
Currently, the Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TVB-1 experiences a real hype. No wonder, the model is fresh on the market. But the novelty is not the first watch from Casio’s flagship “Titanium Virtual” edition. The Japanese have already proven what can be put into a digital watch with the older Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TVA-1, which is identical to the new sister model except for the color design.
Which brings us to the main point. Inspired by virtual reality, gaming and science fiction, both watches draw on the same themes – but the TVA is much more discreet and classic in its design. The lines are also strongly reminiscent of the G-SHOCKs of the 80s. On the coloring DLC coating, you’ll find lettering like Fine Resin Cushioning or Diamond Like Carbon Coating, which explain the materials and construction of the TVA. How convenient, since a review like this actually becomes redundant, doesn’t it?
Red color accents can be found on the wristband, where a hole in the titanium layer reveals the synthetic resin buffering. By the way, you can also tell from the hole which models from the GMW-B5000 collection enjoy a titanium case. Personally, I wouldn’t skimp on this. The advantages in everyday life are too great. The Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TVA-1 sits light as a feather on the wrist, is very comfortable to wear in everyday life and lives up to the Triple-G principle with its robustness. How carefully the materials were chosen and how intelligently the TVA was constructed is noticeable even without the helpful imprints.
The hype on Casio’s titanium watches
Not only in terms of material selection, the Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TVA-1 is among the best that Casio currently offers. Underneath the titanium case, there is an armada of functions that are supposed to make everyday life easier for us wearers. There are alarms, world times, clock settings, stop times, battery indicator and many more. Of course, they can all be controlled via app and Bluetooth connection. That’s something we’re used to by now. The long list of functions is powered by an eco-friendly solar drive. Solar cells are installed under the easy-to-read LED dial. Surplus energy can be stored. In terms of battery life, the TVA is designed more for marathons than sprints.
Those who want to treat themselves to the successful overall package and also have the necessary change of around USD 1,600.00 to spare, will get a handsome box with collector’s value in addition to the watch. The purchase itself, however, presents a small hurdle. Due to their popularity, new deliveries are quickly out of stock. So keep your eyes and ears open!
