Durng the last time I have been looking for a sporty and chic men’s watch. Suitable for various occasions, masculine and with a unique design – these were my ideas. Cornavin Downtown Review.
A very interesting men’s watch from Cornavin, which I came across, proves that cheaper watches are not necessarily worse. The sporty chronograph has a square-edged, two-tone case design. It is made of precious materials, can be easily combined with various outfits – and it’s easy on the wallet. That is someting you would have never guessed by looking at the Cornavin CO 2010-2014 from the so-called Downtown Collection. No question, I had to take a closer look at this timepiece.
To the Cornavin brand
Cornavin is a district of Geneva, located on the famous lake of the same name in Switzerland. Here the origin of the family business. Cornavin became known to a larger crowd in the 1950s and 60s. Since then, the Swiss manufacture has been known for producing very good mechanical watches with a strong price-performance ratio in the mid-price segment. Today the watch manufacturer is located in Zurich. A small fun fact for the watch nerds among you: the most wanted Cornavin model to this day is a Diver Watch. The first impression of the Cornavin CO 2010-2014
The Cornavin CO 2010-2014 is a masculine men’s watch that immediately leaves a lasting impression. The model is part of Cornavins Downtown collection. The angular design looks sporty. The rose gold octagonal bezel immediately catches the eye. In any case, the colour combination rose gold-black is unique. I have to say that I was sceptical about the rose-gold colour at first and only associated it with accessories for my wife and daughter. So now men are wearing rose gold too. And to my astonishment it looks really luxurious. The Cornavin Chronograph does not need to hide on my wrist. The imposing appearance underlines the self-confidence of the wearer. Incidentally, stainless steel and sapphire crystal are not the norm in the mid-price segment. I was even the more surprised that Cornavin uses these high-quality materials here. The finish of the case, dial and bracelet looks very clean.
At this point I could have already given you a clear recommendation to buy the watch. However, it is worthwhile to read on. The Cornavin CO 2010-2014 offers so many interesting details that I would like to show you.
The case
Let’s start with the case of the Cornavin CO 2010-2014. This has an impressive diameter of 44 millimetres. So the chronograph is immediately noticeable on the wrist. If you have previously worn a more delicate watch for years, it will take some time to get used to it. But then you will appreciate the size and effect of the Cornavin CO 2010-2014. The robust case is made of brushed 316L stainless steel. The octagonal design of the bezel is also found here and underlines the sporty character.
The bezel is attached to the case by eight beautiful stainless steel screws. Here no savings were made on the material, too. The bezel is also made of stainless steel. To protect the material and for a guaranteed longevity, the stainless steel was coated with a rose gold PVD coating. Both the case back and the crown are screwed down. Due to its size, the crown is protected on the side by two bulges on the case. The surface is grooved, so that adjusting the watch was never a problem for me. The pushers on the sides fit perfectly to the rest of the case design. They are angular, striking and luxurious. Together with the crown they look incredibly noble. The case back is engraved and individually numbered.
A high-quality watch deserves good protection. In the case of the Cornavin CO 2010-2014, the dial is covered by sapphire crystal. Water is no problem for the Cornavin. The Swiss chronograph is water resistant up to a pressure of 10bar/ATM. So you should not have any concerns when diving to a depth of 100 meters.
The movement
Inside the Cornavin CO 2010-2014, a Swiss quartz movement is ticking. This is a Ronda 5030.D chronograph. This is extremely durable and reliable.
The dial
The Cornavin CO 2010-2014 has a black dial divided into three sections. The inner dial has three totalizers and the date at 4 o’clock. The surfaces shimmer differently, making the dial appear more clearly arranged and more elegant. Cornavin Downtown Review.
On the second section are the indices for the hour display. They have a brushed rose-gold finish, echoing the colour scheme of the bezel. The third section contains the indices for the minute display.
The hour and minute hands are also rose gold. A nice highlight: The surfaces have a white Super-LumiNova coating. This makes reading the time under poor light conditions incredibly easy. The hour indices also have this coating.
The bracelet
The bracelet promises pure wearing comfort and is comfortable. Cornavin supplies the watch with a black calfskin strap with crocodile structure. It has a stainless steel butterfly clasp. Thanks to the use of such high-quality material, you should not feel any signs of wear and tear even after years of daily use. I have been wearing the watch on my arm for several days now and since day one I have had an extremely good wearing feeling.
One special feature Cornavin has built in here. The CO 2010-2014 has a special fastening design at the transition from case to bracelet. This seamless continuity gives the watch a very special stability and durability when worn.
My conclusion about the Cornavin CO 2010-2014
I must congratulate Cornavin. The Swiss Manufacture has launched a really exciting chronograph that actually deserves so much more attention. The design is sporty, masculine and luxurious. Three attributes with which every man should be happy. The special uniqueness is expressed by the contrasting colour scheme with rose gold accents and the angularity of the case. All in all, Cornavin has chosen an excellent mix for the design. The CO 2010-2014 is self-confident, but never too obtrusive. It underlines the uniqueness and individuality of its wearer. It fits every occasion – whether with casual leisure wear, in a meeting or for an exclusive dinner.
And not to forget – it keeps what it promises to the outside world. This is due to the good choice of materials with a lot of stainless steel and an optimal finish. Finally, there is the price. For 590 Swiss francs you can get a lot of watch. The Cornavin CO 2010-2014 is the proof that quality doesn’t always have to cost enormous sums. In addition tot hat you get an international warranty of two years. If you are looking for an affordable, modern and noble men’s watch that you can wear every day and for every occasion, you should definitely take a closer look at the Cornavin CO 2010-2014.
