Business watches are indispensable in today’s life. They should reflect as much as possible what their wearers‘ character is. At the same time, however, they should not appear too obtrusive or arrogant, modern and not dusty, and they should not be too fancy. Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review.
The market seems endlessly large, finding the right, suitable business watch seems tob e almost impossible. Therefore I would like to show you a men’s watch that will make everyone happy. In design it is timeless, classic, noble and discreet. If you are self-respecting, want to meet the demands of modern work life and are looking for a chic business watch as a daily companion, you should read on carefully. In today’s review I put the Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde from the Saxon manufacturer Mühle-Glashütte through its paces. You can be curious about the result.
Business as usual – this is how it works here
You really have to dress unfashionably on purpose to make this watch unsuitable with the rest of your outfit. But there are other blogs for this problem. I have now spent some time putting on several of my business outfits and watching how my new Teutonia made in Saxony looks on the wrist. The answer is simple: amazing! The Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde is incredibly chic. Its design is quite discreet and functional, but also not too introverted to get lost for example in combination with a stylish jacket. The midnight blue dial has a ray-cut finish. Even in low light, it shows a nice gradient on the dial.
This makes an extremely elegant impression, but also doesn’t look overdressed, which is also due to the small second hand as the well-placed and only totalizer. The combination with the light brown leather strap fits. The used materials complete the good impression. As you would expect from Mühle and a watch in this price segment, they are of a very high standard. Apparently, the Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde knows its business quite well. Whether this first impression will prove to be true, we will find out in the further course of the review. Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review.
I have to say that Mühle surprised me with a watch that at first glance seems very different from an instrument watch. Anyone who knows the manufactory from Glashüttein Germany knows that watches are built there that represent the values of functionality, precision and technology mostly in their design. Will the Teutonia II model family, which includes three other models, break with this tradition?
The Case – Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review
The case shows the typical Mühle characteristics and that is a good thing. The manufacturer uses stainless steel as material here, which we can admire with ground and polished surfaces. The diameter of the case is 41 millimetres, the height 13 millimetres. These dimensions are cleverly chosen, as the watch does not look ostentatious or overly modest. A size with which most of you should be very satisfied. The functionality of the Mühle watches can also be found in the case of the Teutonia: As an example I give you the crown, which is also made of stainless steel and screwed. The sufficient size allows even large hands to adjust the watch optimally.
The more elegant than sporty design might not reveal it immediately. But the Teutonia turns out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing and you don’t have to worry about it being damaged in any way during sports or other leisure activities. The case is waterproof and can withstand a pressure of up to 10 bar. This almost makes the Teutonia a diver. Dives to a depth of 100 meters are possible. In addition, Mühle uses domed sapphire crystal, which is particularly robust and scratch-resistant.
The Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde has its secret favorite side on the case back. There is a window embedded in the case back, which allows a free view on the movement. Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review.
The Movement – Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review
The Teutonia keeps what it promises also on the inside – and even more. Mühle uses a Sellita SW 260-1 movement, Swiss Made of course. The movement of the Mühle timepiece has a self-winding mechanism and a power reserve of 38 hours. But that was probably not enough for the manufacturer. The Glashütte manufactory rebuilds the movement and equips it with high-quality special features, let’s say some “upgrades”. For example, the Teutonia has the patented woodpecker neck regulator that is characteristic of Mühle. This is a device that absorbs external shocks with a counterpressure spring and thus protects the sensitive movement. This means that the watch can still be used after work and can be taken safely to sports or holidays.
But it does not stop at the woodpecker neck adjustment. In addition, a separate rotor has been installed, and they have also attached great importance to provide the timepiece with an exclusively designed surface finish. Yes, I noticed, I like to take the Teutonia off. I turn it around and admire the perfectly shaped movement through the transparent case back. At this point, I have to emphasize the work down to the smallest detail. No time or money has been saved on the hidden corners here.
The highlight of the Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde
What ultimately makes the Teutonia the business clock that it is? Of course, the dial. It makes a true statement. The midnight blue colour and the surface with its radiant cut are the absolute highlight of the Teutonia for me. The colour radiates calm and at the same time gives the watch an incredible depth. A strong contrast to this are the indices, which, by the way, were applied by hand. The indices fit seamlessly into the polished design of the case. They are rectangular markings, so the dial is reduced to the bare essentials. They are slightly highlighted and thus give a three-dimensional impression, which I like very much. The details fit very harmoniously into the overall picture. The name-giving small second hand was placed above 6 o’clock, the Mühle-Glashütte lettering below 12 o’clock. The resulting vertical design appears very orderly, balanced and calm. The hands are shiny nickel-plated and taper towards the end. This ensures optimum readability. The small second can be operated by a stop-second device. At 3 o’clock there is a date window. This has a midnight blue background, which is why it almost visually merges with the dial. At 9 o’clock the model series is printed.
Altogether the Teutonia follows the well-known Mühle characteristics with the dial. Why change something that has proven itself? The design is fundamentally geared towards functionality, in this case good readability in everyday life. The Teutonia knows how to counteract the stress of working life with its calmly arranged dial. Too many totalizers are more of a nuisance and distract from the focus. Nevertheless, Mühle gives his watch enough room for beauty. The ray-cut finish here is a real eye-catcher and visually divides the dial.
Around the dial, Mühle has built a so-called D-shaped bezel. With its polished appearance it forms a contrast to the deep blue rest of the dial and frames it optically.
The Bracelet
If you want a leather strap for a midnight blue watch, a light brown colour is almost obligatory. In my opinion, this has been implemented particularly well here, and the crocodile leather look blends in well with the overall picture.
The bracelet has a double folding clasp made of stainless steel, matching the case. The straps are screwed. The wearing comfort is very pleasant. If you want to have it a little more sporty, you can use a stainless steel bracelet instead of the leather strap.
My Conclusion
Is the Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde the perfect business watch to master the strenuous workday? My verdict is quite clear: yes, absolutely! The watch manages to appear neither too sporty and technical on the one hand, nor too arrogant on the other. It is elegant, noble and modern, but never playful. Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde Review. With the Teutonia, Mühle-Glashütte shows a clear line. It does not break with the values of the traditional manufacture, but remains functional, precise and robust. In my opinion, this combination is unique.
If you are looking for a stylish business watch that is of the highest quality, always fashionable and always works and you also appreciate the fact that the watch can show itself from a completely different side, you will find it in the Teutonia II Kleine Sekunde. The price for the model configured here is 1990€
