HIGH-PERFORMANCE CERAMIC
Following on from the Mido Ocean Star 600 Chronometer, GMT and Chronograph models, Mido is bringing ceramic – one of the most outstanding materials in watchmaking – to the rotating bezel of its new Mido Ocean Star 200C. This almost completely scratch- proof material stands out for its incredible physical properties, which include resis- tance to thermal shock, along with hardness, a guarantee of long-term stability.
With this model, the brand confirms its constant desire to offer cutting-edge technology, the very best materials, and high-end finishes without forsaking the value of its watches. Here, the ceramic ring adopts a bright green shade – a completely new colour for the Swiss watchmaker – which can also be found on the matt dial decorated with a rippled texture, completing the new, distinctive face of the Mido Ocean Star 200C. Its technological performance is provided by the Caliber 80 automatic movement, addi- tionally to its water-resistance up to 200 metres.
DESIGNED FOR THE SEAS – MIDO OCEAN STAR 200C
The Mido Ocean Star 200C has a powerful presence on athletic wrists with its matt green dial decorated with a rippled texture. The diamond-cut and satin-finished hour hand and minute hand provide excellent readability, as does the sweep seconds, instantly recognisable thanks to its apple-shaped tip. The hour circle is punctuated by round indexes, with an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock, characteristic of diving watches.
With 60-minute graduations around its edge, the rotating bezel – whose exceptionally scratch-resistant ring is in high-tech ceramic – can be used to count time intervals. Thanks to the white Super-LumiNova® on the indexes, hands, and the marker at 12 o’clock on the bezel, each of these indications can be read perfectly whether in broad daylight or in the dark. The particularly useful day and date display is located at 3 o’clock. With an anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the sapphire crystal provides an unimpeded view of the dial’s captivating colour.
EQUIPPED FOR THE WATER
The Mido Ocean Star 200C is fitted with the Caliber 80 automatic movement, which is particularly reliable thanks to its power reserve of up to 80 hours. This movement is protected by a robust stainless-steel case water-resistant to a pressure of up to 20 bar (200 m/660 ft) with its screwed crown and case back. On the case, a combination of textures catches the light: shiny polished flutes and edges are juxtaposed with the satin-finished surfaces of the flanks.
On the case back, there is a polished starfish in relief – a nod to the collection’s nautical spirit. Fitted with a folding clasp, the stainless steel bracelet incorporates a diver’s extension that makes it ideal for a range of uses and wearing styles, whether over a diving suit or for everyday wear. In a sophisticated detail for more urban wearers, the links are satin-finished on the sides of the bracelet and polished in the centre, playing with the light and creating contrasting reflections.
The Mido Ocean Star 200C is also available with a blue or a grey dial, each with a matching ceramic bezel.
With its new green dial and sporty look reminiscent of the marine depths, the Mido Ocean Star 200C combines the performance of ceramic with technology on the wrist.
