The Nereide Turchese is much more than just a watch—it tells the story of a gemstone that shaped trade routes from Persia to Venice for centuries. Turquoise was considered a valuable commodity from early on, prized not only for its intense color but also as a symbol of protection and strength. In Venetian workshops, the stone was transformed into artistic objects and was part of a long tradition of fine craftsmanship. This model ties in with that very past: a dial made of genuine turquoise is combined here with a scratch-resistant tungsten bezel – a combination of living tradition and modern watchmaking.
The unmistakable beauty of turquoise
Turquoise is one of the most extraordinary gemstones and captivates with its opaque surface, which produces shades ranging from delicate sky blue to vibrant aqua green. Since ancient times, it has been revered for its radiance and symbolic value. Particularly striking are the fine, irregular veins that make each piece unique. No two dials are alike – each watch has its own identity. At the same time, turquoise has been associated with mental clarity, balance, and a deep connection to nature for centuries.
From Persia to the lagoon
In the Middle Ages, stones such as turquoise found their way to Venice via extensive trade routes connecting Persia, Central Asia, and the Mediterranean. Alongside precious fabrics and exotic spices, it became a sought-after material that was further processed in the city’s workshops. Goldsmiths and artisans gave it form and meaning by incorporating it into jewelry or ritual objects. Venice thus developed into a hub between the Orient and the Occident – and turquoise became a symbol of the cultural exchange of this era.

Precise craftsmanship in processing
Working with turquoise requires the utmost care, as the stone is naturally delicate. Using special cold working techniques, it is cut into wafer-thin plates that are perfect for use as watch dials without damaging its structure. The surface is then refined in elaborate polishing steps, giving the stone a dense, shiny appearance. The finished material produces a fascinating play of light that highlights the natural beauty of the gemstone and gives the timepiece a depth all its own.
Colors reminiscent of the lagoon
The genuine turquoise dial reflects light in a distinctive way, reminiscent of the luminous hues of the Venetian lagoon. The fine veins in the stone resemble patterns reminiscent of structures through which water flows, making each watch unique. The overall look is complemented by a light blue strap that further enhances this maritime connection. The result is a timepiece that captures the character of Venice: radiant, vibrant, and always in motion.
The legacy of the Nereide
The collection is inspired by the Nereide, a historic submarine that is engraved on the case back of each watch. This image shows it sailing underwater and recalls its history. At the same time, it refers to the diving DNA of the model, which makes no compromises in terms of function with a water resistance of 200 meters and a rotating bezel for measuring dive times. The Nereide Turchese thus combines aesthetic sophistication with genuine technical reliability – a tribute to both the past and the present.
