The Seiko Prospex Black Series Limited Edition
All three Seiko Prospex Black Series Limited Edition models are inspired by classic Seiko dive watches from the 1960s and 70s.
If we say that the SPB253J1 is a close relative of the 62MAS, Seiko’s first-ever dive watch, then we won’t be wrong, as it is the modern re-interpretation of Prospex 1965, which was modelled after the 62 MAS. It has a complete black stainless steel case with two strap options, a brown textile strap and black rubber. It features beige, grey, and orange accents similar to the previous Black Series.
Another gem in the new Seiko watches 2022 is the SPB255J1, inspired by the Seiko ref 6159-7001, released in 1968. Watch gurus credit it to lay the foundation of the Seiko’s dive watches’ design ethos. Its re-interpretation has a black coated stainless steel case and a black dial with large roundels for hour markers. The orange in the diving scale on the bezel and the hands gives a pop of colour and provides a contrast with the black dial.
The SPB257J1 is the direct descendent of the Seiko 6105-8110. You might remember it from the legendary movie Apocalypse Now. It was also worn by the US soldiers during the Vietnam war, granting it a special place in history. It’s quite large with a black 42.7mm by 13.2mm case; the integrated short lugs tame it a bit. It’s identical to the other two in terms of colours and straps, with the only difference being the extended caseband from 3 to 5 o’clock.
All three models are powered by the Calibre 6R35, which comes with 24 jewels and has a frequency of 21,600 vph.
The aforementioned three models are kind of identical to each other, but the fourth model, SLAO61J1, is rather different, both in terms of looks and technicalities, as it’s part of the SLA category. It is 1970, Seiko 6105, Mechanical Diver’s modern re-interpretation. Unlike the other three, it doesn’t have orange on the bezel, but only features it on the dial. The Calibre 8L35 powers the SLAO61J1. It is an automatic movement with 27 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 bph, and a 50-hour power reserve. It is hand-assembled at Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio in Morioka.

King Seiko Collection 2022 – New Seiko Watches 2022
King Seiko is the fruit of an internal rivalry between the Daini Seikosha and Suwa Seikosha factories. First came the Grand Seiko by the Suwa Seikosha factory, and a year later, in 1961, King Seiko followed, made by the Daini Seikosha factory. Later, both of them switched to the design guidelines, Grammar of Design, by Taro Tanaka, the legendary designer who revolutionised Seiko.
The new King Seiko series takes design inspiration from the second-ever King Seiko, the 44-9990. All five new models have the same sharp and angular 37mm case and brushed and polished finishing. The crown and the case back with the King Seiko emblem, and the boxed sapphire crystal have the 60s touch to them.
The new King Seiko collection offers five different dial colours. The closest to the original 44-9990 is the SBP279J1 with the silver sunray brushed dial. The other four have light-grey straight brushed (SBP281J1), charcoal grey (SPB283J1), brown (SPB285J1) and burgundy red (SPB287J1) dials.
The series pays further homage to its ancestor through Zaratsu-polished flat hour and minute hands, and a double 12 marker with a fine pyramid pattern on each marker.
You can either get the retro-ish stainless steel multi-link bracelet or vintage-style leather strap. The stainless steel bracelet has faceted links, tapering from case to folding buckles, like the 44-9990.
All five models are powered by the Calibre 6R31, which has 24 jewels, 70 hours power reserve and a frequency of 21,600vph.

The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series Zero Halliburton Limited Edition
As the name suggests, the Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series Zero Halliburton Limited Edition is a collaboration with Zero Halliburton, a premium quality travel luggage brand. It has three different models: SPB269J1, SPB277J1, and SPB271J1.
The main inspiration behind these watches is Zero Halliburton’s next-generation Pursuit Aluminum Series.
The SPB269J1 and SPB271J1 have a sporty look with a GMT, whereas, the SPB277J1 is a classic time-and-date version. The GMT watches offer you a choice between a black and white dial and come with a black and special blue bezel.
New Seiko Watches 2022
The distinct motif on the dial is a homage to Zero Halliburton’s iconic “double-ribbed” pattern, which has been a design element of this travel-luggage brand since 1946. If you look closely, you’ll see the Japanese hemp leaf pattern as well.
The watch cases and bracelets have a 3-D look to them due to the contrast between the delicate hairline finish and the carefully polished surfaces.
The SPB269J1 and SPB271J1 have a Calibre 6R64 movement, and the SPB277J1 has a Calibre 6R35 movement. Both of these are self-winding, with 6R64 having 29 jewels, 45 hours power reserve, and a Diashock system, and 6R35 having 24 jewels, 70 hours power reserve, and a Diashock system.

I like the new Seiko watches 2022. just the Black Edition has done it to me. And there the SPB255J1. Why? Because I find the design. very successful and I was also born in 1968! What fits better than this watch? An original from this time is almost impossible to get. The King Seikos are currently NOT in the official online stores of Seiko to buy, you have to go to the respective specialty stores. However, I am sure that these will soon appear at Chrono24 and Co, who wants to avoid the walk to the dealer.
How do you find the new Seiko watch models 2022?
What is your favorite?
And of course the question – what do you currently wear on your arm?
Today I’m wearing the new Seiko Prospex Turtle Land Tortoise SRPH15K1, about which I published the review yesterday. Take a look at it. The watch is really cool. I love this green! It’s much darker and fancier in live than in the usual product photos. And it wears very comfortable!
