Sweden is known for its varied, untouched nature. Perfect for extended outdoor trips in the forests and lakes. What to do with it? A constant, robust companion. Wind- and weatherproof, uncomplicated and yet always stylish. And it comes as an insider tip from a young Swedish watch manufacturer. A story about the Octon Watch…
Review Octon Watch Black Gold Watch with Stainless Steel Bracelet
The first impression counts, as you know. And that makes a lot of sense here. The colouring of our watch? Black-gold and with white colour accents on the dial. Just typical Scandinavian. Discreet and always style-conscious. In the robust stainless steel case beats a heart in the form of a Japanese Automatic movement. On several models you can get an Swiss automatic movement for an extra charge. You can even choose between two different ones. But beware, because this is not possible with every model, for example not with our black one. What makes a watch a personal favourite?
Of course, the perfect bracelet. And here, too, the Octon Watch can be configured according to your own taste and at no extra charge. In addition to the stainless steel bracelet, Octon also comes with a second one, which is really something special. At first sight it is a normal black fabric strap with the difference that it is not made of fabric. Wait a minute, what? What we are holding in our hands here is a bracelet made of silicone that looks deceptively similar to fabric and even feels like it, even when worn on the wrist for a long time. A great idea! Individuality?
Not much more is possible. Everyone will find his own Octon Watch, which he can adapt to his needs. The Octon Watch comes in a small case with a guarantee card made of metal and tools to change the bracelets with a brilliant idea, but more about that.
Octon Watch – The Outdoor Check
Suppose we are really in the Swedish wilderness, on the road for days, exposed to wind and weather. Our Octon Watch has to meet various requirements, for example weather conditions. The stainless steel case and bracelet are stainless, perfect on rainy days. Alternatively, the silicone bracelet is much more durable than fabric bracelets and looks like new even after a longer period of time.
And now we come to the interesting solution that Octon has installed: there is a small hole in the case on the left and right of the strap at the point of impact. This is where our supplied tool comes in. If you insert this tool into the holes, the bridge on the wristband can be loosened and replaced very quickly. Nerve-racking work when replacing the bracelet and scratches on the case or bracelet are a thing of the past. Ingenious and simple.
The next requirement: water. Sweden’s capital Stockholm is located on an archipelago consisting of over 25000 small islands! Perfect for bathing and diving. Our little diver is prepared for everything. The Octon Watch is waterproof to a depth of 300 meters. And in the dense forest or in the mountains? The sapphire glass has to be mentioned, because it is especially scratch resistant. And that’s not all, because Octon supplies its watch with a special anti-reflective coating to prevent glare from light reflections.
Of course, the design must not fall by the wayside. As already described above, Scandinavian in discreet gold, black and with white accents on the markings for reading the time. And slightly vintage, because instead of numbers, the dial is printed with circles, triangles and rectangles. The golden hands are reminiscent of lightning, giving the whole a certain dynamism. The gold and white colouring on the black dial makes the watch look very harmonious. The back shines through the polished stainless steel, engraved here is the Octopus, the “heraldic animal” of the manufacturer.
Our conclusion. The Octon Watch is a true all-rounder. Finally a look at the price: 250€. No, there is no zero missing. For this price you not only get an incredibly robust and flexible everyday companion, but also a watch that can impress with its discreet, Scandinavian vintage design. For whom is this watch now interesting? Divers, rangers and adventurers?
This would certainly not do the watch justice, because it is a true option for anyone who appreciates the robustness and all-round qualities of the Octon Watch and wants to wear a timepiece that doesn’t make you think about scratches or the like during the slightest activity. Scratches are probably foreign to the Octon Watch. By the way, the watch is best suited for both sexes, as it is not too big due to its diameter of 40mm. We can only hope that Octon will launch more models and specifications in the near future. The watch tested here is very promising.
